Description

A spell scroll contains the words of a single 1st-level spell, inscribed in magical writing on fine parchment. The scroll is consumed when the spell is cast, releasing its stored magical energy.

Usage

Activation: As an Action, you can read the scroll aloud to cast the contained 1st-level spell.

Requirements:

  • The spell must be on your class's spell list, OR
  • You must succeed on a DC 11 Ability check using your spellcasting ability

Spell Parameters:

  • Spell Save DC: 13
  • Caster Level: 1st level (minimum for the spell)

Casting Rules

Successful Casting:

  • Spell activates at 1st level with scroll's parameters
  • Scroll crumbles to dust after use

  • Uses scroll's spell attack bonus and save DC

Failed Ability Check:

  • Spell fails to activate
  • Scroll crumbles to dust anyway
  • Wild magic surge may occur (DM discretion)
  • Wasted scroll with no beneficial effect

  • Identify spell: Reveals the exact spell and level
  • Arcana check (DC 15): Determines spell school and approximate level
  • Magical aura: Shows as 1st-level magic under Detect Magic
